October 2nd, 2013 by in General with 2,038 Views

You thought you were poor but did you know that at your current economic state, you may be richer than some of the presidents in the world? Certainly, there are world’s presidents who own close to nothing in terms of wealth. Here are some of the poorest presidents in the world:

4. Robert Mugabe

He is the president of the Republic of Zibambwe and he is on this list as the fourth poorest president in the world. His assets and wealth total to $18,000 only.  He has been the president of Zimbabwe since December 1987 and is known as the most controversial president in the world. He was once seen as a hero by his people when he led in the fight against white Rhodesian rulers. However, in his latter years, his rule has been marred by land based violence as he seeks to redistribute land that once belonged to colonial settlers.

3. Hamid Karzai

The president of Afghanistan takes position three in the list of the world’s poorest presidents. His wealth only amounts to $6,300. He has been the president of Afghanistan since 2001 when the American forces dethroned the Taliban regime. He won the popular vote in 2004 presidential elections and was re-elected in 2009.

He takes thesecond position as the poorest president in the world. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran and his wealth can only be estimated at $3,000. 1. Jose Mujica

He is the president of Uruguay and he beats all the other poor presidents to become the world’s poorest president. He is poor by choice and donates 90% of his salary to charity. He has turned down the offer to live a life of luxury in a state owned house and instead, lives his life in his ramshackle farm close to the capital city. You will only know he is the president because of the pair of police officers standing guard nearby.

Brilliant sharing man! We have to learn a lot from them. Actually they are the real presidents. They don’t think about them but think for the country. When we will get such a president for our country!

He was already a Senator, Lawyer, and a Professor, he was bound to eventually get rich.

A lawyer? That explains a lot!

It’s no wonder so many of these countries are so pissed off. Their presidents have the most important jobs in the country yet they are living below poverty levels.

And Mrs Mugabe’s wealth is? Who came up with this absurd figure? Have the Mugabe’s lost their diamonds?

  • Joseph John

Robert Mugabe in the list? He is destroying the whole Zimbabwe. I don’t think that he is not that poor.

  • Geofrey Bett

Mugabe with all this years of leadership and his level of Education as the most learned president with seven university degrees I think does not deserve to be in this list.
He must be poor by choice

Jose Mujica, a one good example of a public servant, a selfless leadership. It’s really amazing how some people are devoted to serving the welfare of the public, let’s learn and live from this good example :)

  • Sakil Hossen

I salute Jose Mujica. Such a great person he and from the 90% of donation choice he cleared he is a generous person. No other presidents in the world has been acted like him before!! Feeling proud for him!!
